Confession Pages?

So I’ve seen that a few schools have put up “Confession Pages” on Facebook. Kids can anonymously confess  to anything from something that they did that they feel guilty for or coming out of the closet.

I’ve seen some of these posts and a lot of these people put up bogus stuff just for fun, which I think is wrong in a place like that. it prevents people from actually helping or wanting to post stuff that are serious.

I love the idea though and think its great for troubled kids and I’m happy to see this sort of a thing pop up in our country. I hope people take some stuff seriously though.

Bittorent Live

When you computer starts to load something like a video from one server it could be a bit frustrating if the video is a bit long, because well its collecting data from just one server. YouTube in Sri Lanka anyone? 😀

Any way if you know about torrents you know that one file’s content is scattered among many peers, which means all the packets of data would be retrieved from those different servers at once, which is much much faster. But why am i talking about two things that are totally different, YouTube video buffering and file downloading from a torrent?

I’m building a bridge between the two to show BitTorent’s latest service BitTorrent Live. Live video streaming not from one server but multiple peers. the result? generally higher quality video with much less hassle and time.

Copyrights for the picture used above belongs to bittorrent and was excerpted from the BitTorrent Live website

the description on its website http://live.bittorrent.com/ says-

“BitTorrent Live is a powerful new web-based live streaming technology. Designed to eliminate barriers to broadcast, Live is an entirely new protocol, designed to deliver high quality video to large audiences – with significant reduction in infrastructure cost and network delays.”

Blogging?

The Internet is full of blogs, some have the time to read them and some don’t  yet people post so many entries just to put out an opinion, I’ve come to the conclusion that a blog is a window into the mind of a blogger and all his opinions.

I’ve always wanted to blog but I never really got into it until now, I’m studying for my Higher National Diploma in Interactive Media at SAITM a local private university and a lecturer made it mandatory that we have a blog, also noting it a pass criteria for the subject. I think think he did something great, honestly I would have never got around to blogging if not.

In addition to all the normal posts he wants up there, I will treat this blog as my own and post anything and everything that crosses my mind. Which I hope a lot of my classmates do, because it encourages us to put forth our opinions, communicate with  society and helps us express ourselves more.
